Parents,
Today we discussed the problem of the overwhelming population of brown tree snakes in Guam, a little island north of Australia. We also learned that the main reason why these snakes are in such large numbers is that they have no predators to eat them. So, they are at the top of the food chain! Scientists have tried several methods to control their numbers such as using traps with mice, poison, and electrified fencing but to no avail. In conclusion, the government of Guam has created many Brown Tree Snake recipes to encourage the residents to eat the snakes because they taste like chicken!
