Science Study Guide
You should know:
• Density- the amount of mass per unit volume. D=M/V
• Volume- is the amount of space an object takes up
• Greek word for volume is envelope
• Kinetic Energy is working energy
• Potential energy is when an object has the potential to use its energy (energy of position)
• Mass- the amount of matter an object has
• Gravity- the force exerted on an object
• Physical change- is when a substance changes it appearance and it can be changed back to its original appearance.
• Chemical change-when a substance is changed into a difference substance and it can’t be change back to its original appearance.
• Burning of wood is a ______________change because the energy has been released.
• To find the volume of a cube you must multiply the lengthxwidthxvolume
• To find the mass of an object you must do this equation weight=mxgravity
• We are lighter on the moon because the moon has less gravitational pull
• To change the density of an object you can do one of two things. decrease the volume and keep the mass the same. Or you can increase the mass and keep the volume the same.
• What has a high volume but a low mass?
• What has a high mass but a low volume?
• How do you find the volume of a rock?
