Computer Lab Assignment

Hey Students!
For this last full week of school, we will be learning about money! The first thing you will do in computer lab is to copy down your vocabulary words. Next, you will click on "Money" link and go to that website. You are to write down 10 ways you can pay for things.
Now answer the following questions:
-How will you pay for candy?
-WHich method of payment would you use to pay for a car?
- A house?
-A trip to Africa?

Math homework- page 414 all sets and page 415 5-21. This was an inclass assignment, so most of you should be finished. If not, this will be your homework. You will also have your last quiz tomorrow and our end of the year party.
I would like to have our classroom party sometime next week. I will keep you posted for more information.

Fret- When you fret about something, you keep thinking and worrying about it.

Assured- If someone assured you of something, her or she has said words to make you feel postive that things will be all right.

Nudged- If you nudged a person or thing, you pushed it or poked it gently.

Outlandish- If something is outlandish, it is bizzare, strange, and unusual.

Ruckus- To raise a ruckus is to make a lot of noise and fuss about something.

Account- a record of money a person deposits into a bank
Balance- the difference between credits and debits in an account
Bank- a building in which commercial banking is transacted.

Barter- to trade without using money.
Borrow- to ask for the temporary use of money on the condition of repayment and at a set rate of interest

Interest- money paid for borrowing money, or money that a bank or building society pays a customer for putting money into their bank.
Interest rate- the percentage of an amount of money which is paid for the use of that money over a period of time.

Debt- the state of owing something (especially money).
Denomination- a number that expresses the value of a coin or bill. A five pound note and a ten pound note represent two denominations.

Respiratory System- A body function that allow gas exchange through all parts of the body
Trachea- A tube (windpipe) that connects to the pharynx and larynx, which allows passage of air to the lungs.
Diaphragm-A strong muscle under the lungs separating the thorax and the and abdomen, allowing the thorax to contract and expand.
Alveoli- Tiny clusters of air sacks where gas exchange occurs
Bronchi- Are two tubes that carry air from the trachea to the inner parts of the lung. They divide into smaller air passways call bronchioles.
Nasal Passage- the entrance into the respritory system.
Excretory System- A body system that includes the kidneys, ureter, and urinary bladder and is responsible for removing waste, uneccessary or dangerous materials from the body.
Kidney-Are paired organs with several functions: secretes waste (urea and ammonia), absorbs water, amino acids, and glucose, produce hormones, regulates electrolytes and blood pressure.
Ureter- muscular tubes that propels urine form the kidneys to the urinary bladder.(10-12 inches long)
Urinary Bladder-Collects urine excreted from the kidneys (via ureter) and sits on the pelvic floor
Capillaries- Small blood vessels that surrounds the alveoli and allows blood to absorb oxygen and to release carbon dioxide.

Compass- An instrument used to determine direction. The needle in a compass always points to magnetic north.
Direction- The course or line along which something moves, lies, or points.
Orientation- A position or arrangement in relation to another position or location
Shadow- The dark area created by an object that stops light.
Sun- A star around which Earth and other planets revovle. It furnishes heat, light, and energy.
Insolation- Incoming solar energy.
Solar Energy- Energy from the Sun. This energy takes several forms, including visible light and infrared light that can be felt as heat.

Science Project Due 11/6

It’s That Time to Put on Your Creative Thinking Caps! Students will have to do a project on one of the 8 body systems, endocrine, respiratory, circulatory, reproductive, muscular, skeletal, nervous, and excretory. The following will outline the expectations for this project: • Figure out which system you would like to do your project on. • Conduct research on your chosen body system and write a one page report that discusses facts and interesting ideas. You will be graded on proper grammar, punctuations, complete sentences, and indentations. Be sure to add a cover page. • You may build your system our of poster paper with an outline of our body, or use other materials such as newspaper, card board box, food, beads, buttons, foil, ect. (use your imagination, you may want to get a cake pan shaped into a human and decorated with icing to illustrate your body system, or use different types of noodles for the skeletal system) • Grading Criteria: Project-40 points, report- 30points, creativity-20, presentation- 10 points. • Project due Friday, November 6th.
